Philadelphia Flyers Barry Ashbee Jersey Patch

The Philadelphia Flyers Barry Ashbee jersey patch is another commemorative patch worn by the Flyers during the 1977-1978 season. The patch honors former Flyers defenseman Barry Ashbee, who played for the team from 1970 to 1974 and was a key member of the Flyers teams that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975.

Ashbee's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with leukemia during the 1974-1975 season. He retired from playing and became an assistant coach for the Flyers, but tragically passed away in 1977 at the age of 36.

In honor of Ashbee's contributions to the team, the Flyers wore the patch bearing his name and number (4) on their jerseys during the 1977-1978 season. The patch has since become a collector's item among Flyers fans and NHL memorabilia collectors.
